Mixing Plant Charge Hand - Lincoln

We have a vacancy for a full time mixing plant charge hand in Lincoln.

The post holder is a member of the production staff and reports to the production supervisor or a more senior member of the production management team.

The post holder is responsible for supervision of production team member, including agency staff. This may include the provision of guidance, basic training and communicating best practice.

Main Duties

  • You will supervise production rates, standardised working, process improvement and co-ordinate production team members.
  • You will have authority over production team members for the responsibilities outlined above, however overall responsibility for the team including yourself lies with the production supervisor.
  • You will report directly to the production supervisor who will address any administration issues (including disciplinary affairs) for the production team members.

Your core duties are to co-ordinate the production team:

  • Standardised working to ensure productivity, quality, health and safety and environmental matters.
  • Job rotation for the team members and training/coaching where appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate stock takes and material control,
  • Ensure accuracy of data capture and recording/reporting.
  • You will be a member of the management team, as such your behaviour should reflect your position.

Yard Marshal - Ellesmere Port

We are recruiting a yard marshal in the growing media production area. The key responsibility of the yard marshal is the management of goods in and out.

Goods-in duties include dealing with approximately 50 deliveries per day which will contain raw materials that need to be tipped. You will need to prioritise loads coming in and liaise with drivers as to how long they will need to wait until they can off load. You will understand and check all paperwork including weighbridge tickets.

Goods-out duties will involve co-ordinating the loading of pallets containing bags of raw materials onto empty trailers waiting to deliver. You will need to prioritise which loads need to be assigned first and communicate this to the drivers accordingly. In this role you could be dealing with up to 100 vehicles per day and must be able to take control of the yard.

Requirements for both roles:

  • Loading shovel and fork lift truck license essential.
  • Previous experience in goods in / goods out role.
  • Vehicle management experience.
  • Good understanding of stock rotation.
  • Working knowledge of completing paperwork including weighbridge information.
  • Good PC skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to give clear and concise instructions and overcome any resistance.
  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.

You will be working a rotating shift of 6-2 / 2-10 and be paid an hourly rate of £8.10 per hour. You will need to be flexible as you may be asked to work nights also. For afternoon and night shifts there is a shift premium paid in addition to the hourly rate.

Premium Operators x 2 - Ellesmere Port

Multi-Skilled Operatives x 2 - Ellesmere Port

Our growing media department will implement a two shift working pattern week commencing 1st December 2014 and therefore we are seeking to recruit 2 premium operatives with current and valid loading shovel licences. We envisage the two shift working pattern will continue to spring 2015.

To support the increased manufacturing and dispatch we are seeking 5 multi-skilled operatives to work in the logistics department. the working pattern will be rotating shifts. A valid and current fork lift truck licence is essential. We are seeking 1 multi-skilled operative to also hold a current and valid telehandler licence.

All positions are advertised on a temporary basis, however, for candidates who display capability, willingness and initiative, these positions could become permanent.

Premium operatives - loading shovel licence essential. £8.10 per hour

Multi-skilled operatives - fork lift truck licence essential. £7.20 per hour.

Health & Safety

  • Accountable for working safely and following safety instructions as per site induction.
  • Responsible for reporting concerns/unsafe working practises and near-miss incidents to the team leader.

Mechanical Technician - Ellesmere Port

We are recruiting a mechanical day technician to support the manufacturing operation at our Ellesmere Port facility. The successful candidate will report to the engineering manager.

Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 08: to 17:00

Experience

  • At least 8 years post apprenticeship in a bulk raw material processing and conveying environment in a maintenance position.
  • Experience of working with mobile plant, Loadalls, fork lifts, loaders, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of transmission components such as gearboxes, shafts, chain/belt drives, bearing inspection and replacement, etc.
  • Very good working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics on baling, compaction and palletising plant.
  • Good level of fabrication and repair work using MIG/stick.
  • Experience of working to planned maintenance schedules.

Multi-Skilled Shift Technician - Ellesmere Port

We are recruiting for a multi-skilled shift technician to support the manufacturing operation at our Ellesmere port facility. The successful candidate will report to the engineering manager.

Hours of Work

3 shifts rotating, 0600-14:00, 14:00-22:00, 22:00-06:00, Sunday night through to Friday afternoon

Experience

At least 8 years post apprenticeship experience in a bulk raw material processing and conveying environment in a maintenance position.

It is essential that candidates have formal up-skilling certification, either mechanical to electrical or electrical to mechanical.

Mechanical up-skilling must include at least:

  • Safe isolation.
  • Test for dead.
  • Disconnection/reconnection of motors.
  • Motor fault diagnosis testing.
  • Electrical awareness, panels, switch rooms, trip resetting, etc.

Electrical up-skilling must include at least:

  • Hydraulics
  • Shaft alignment.
  • Bearing replacement.
  • Mig/stick welding.

Qualifications

Logistics Team Leader - Ellesmere Port

Due to an increase in shifts from 1st December 2014 , we are seeking a second team leader in the logistics department.

Team leaders are responsible for being a leadership resource to team member, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice. They follow high standrds of health and safety and housekeeping, ensuring their team does the same. They are responsible for knowing and creating proper procedures for their team and they ensure these procedures are followed. They contribute and share ideas on how to improve quality and efficiency of logistics. They are hands-on and lead by example. They encourage team effort and supportive attitudes within their team.

Hours of Work

The hours of work will be 37.5 per week on a rotating shift pattern. Team leaders may be required to work night shift and occasional weekends.

Preferable Skills / Experience

  • Fork lift truck licence.

Quality Technicians x 2 - Ellesmere Port

We are recruiting two quality technicians in Ellesmere Port; the roles are full time and temporary. Working within the technical team you will work on a rotating shift pattern. As quality technician you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of raw material and process quality; validating that all product leaving the site meets the expectations of our customers. you will have experience of working within a manufacturing, heavy industry or testing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Auditing all tests done on the shop floor by the production operatives.
  • Validating the integrity of all tests done on raw materials and spot-checking the materials.
  • Ensuring the integrity of data generated and that it is properly recorded in a timely fashion.
  • Performing tests which cannot be done at the point of work.
  • Inspection of the working and storage area for raw material and product defects.
  • Monitor the quarantine system and the control of non-conforming product to ensure that it is working effectively.
  • Collect raw material and product samples and ensure that they are stored in an easily retrievable manner and that out of date samples are disposed of.
  • Collating data for a weekly report and submitting the report.

Qualifications / Education

  • GCSE qualification in English and Mathematics or can demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Computer qualification such as ECDL or can demonstrate computer literacy.
