Production Engineer - Ellesmere Port

Position - Production Engineer x1 - permanent

Hours of Work - Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 17:00

Salary - This is a salaried role and will be discussed on application.

Experience and Requirements:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working alongside project management and other engineering colleagues this role carries responsibility for contributing to the efficient start up and smooth running of an operation that will ultimately be processing, packaging and warehousing several hundreds of thousands of tonnes of finished product. There will be heavy accent on the introduction, development and continuance of lean manufacturing techniques coupled with significant workforce engagement and the injection of an involved, continuous improvement culture operating to the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality and OEE. Ideal candidates will be trained engineers, educated to HNC or equivalent level, who have developed their career in production or maintenance engineering associated with bulk materials processing within world class manufacturing environments. Breadth of experience will be advantageous together with a combination of hands-on machine knowledge, project planning and management experience. Previous involvement in start-up or major new investments will also be clearly relevant.

Production Team Leader Vacancy - Ellesmere Port (Growing Media)

Production Team Leaders are responsible for being a leadership resource to team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice. They will follow high standards of Health and Safety and housekeeping, ensuring their team does the same. They will be responsible for knowing and creating proper procedures for their team, and they will ensure that these procedures are followed. They will contribute and share ideas on how to improve quality and efficiency of production. They will be hands on and lead by example. They will encourage team effort and supportive attitudes within their team. They will also support the other Production Teams and Team Leaders in ensuring a collaborative and cooperative culture within the entire organisation.

Hours of work

This is an hourly paid position and the hours of work will be 37.5 per week on rotating shifts, this will include night shifts.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead production team in manufacturing highest quality products on time, within budget and in an efficient & effective manner.
  • Develop and follow production plan.
  • Operate process equipment and systems in accordance with operation procedures to maximise production.
  • Ensure production, distribution and quality targets are met.
  • Ensure there is complete commitment to continuous improvement within the team.
  • Carry out first line maintenance activities and basic problem solving.
  • Respond to unplanned stoppages and breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Report promptly any breakdowns to Production Manager and Maintenance Team.
  • Ensure comprehensive records and logs are maintained.
  • Ensure effective handover at the change of shift.
  • Maintain effective communication with all colleagues at all levels.
  • Adopt a flexible working attitude to provide support across all departments to ensure team success.
  • Support and improve team performance by sharing knowledge and best practise.
  • Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping are met.
  • Ensure they promote a culture of positive collaboration and cooperation so this is created and solidified throughout the organisation.

Health & Safety

  • Be a Health and Safety Champion
  • Inducting, training and mentoring production operatives
  • Ability to perform risk assessments when required
  • Accountable for ensuring team work safely and follow safety instructions
  • Ensure all H&S programmes are followed by production team
  • Responsible for safety checks on all equipment operated throughout the production process
  • Ensure that their team members are supplied with appropriate PPE
  • Taking appropriate action when health & safety policy is breached
  • Responsible for reporting concerns & unsafe working practises/conditions and near miss incidents to Production Manager
  • Ensure immediate reporting of incidents.

Quality

  • Responsible for meeting quality assurance standards as set by industry programs, such as ISO.
  • Responsible for setting high standards to reach production goals, ensuring that higher quantities produced do not compromise quality.
  • Ensuring that any quality issues are reported promptly to the Production Manager and Quality Team.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in similar role in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience of working to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lead team and be integral part of overall Production Team.
  • PC Literate.
  • Must be willing to work shifts.

Preferable Skills / Experience

  • Fork Lift Truck Licence.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
  • Experience of creating Standard Operating Procedures
  • IOSH Qualification or similar
  • Experience of working within an ISO9001 organisation.

Mechanical Graduate Engineer 

William Sinclair Horticulture Ltd is seeking to recruit a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to initially populate, develop and implement a site wide Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) over a 12 month period. On completion of this exercise the Engineer will move to a Production Engineer role utilising the plant knowledge gained during the above exercise. The position will report to the Engineering Manager.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a sound knowledge of bulk processing and conveying systems. Some experience of Project Management in a manufacturing environment. Experience of planned and predictive maintenance on rotating plant.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously

The Role:

With the involvement of Engineering and Production colleagues ensure that all issued projects are completed on time and to specification, the role will initially involve:

  • Population of Parana CMMS with all site assets and O+M manual planned maintenance schedules
  • Assign electronica documentation including tech specs, risk assessments, SOP's etc.
  • Set up KPI's and report on performance metrics
  • Develop and install actual resource hours per task
  • Ensure maintenance routes and schedules are optimised for downtime and man hours 
  • Assign cost centres and codes
  • Set up BOM's for maintenance tasks
  • Generate training documentation, implement training
  • Roll out CMMS and further develop.

On completion of Parana CMMS (expected 12 months) the emphasis will be on Production Engineering utilising knowledge gained during the Parana implementation. Expected work types will be:

  • Continuous Improvement projects
  • Drive a culture change towards lean Manufacturing
  • Small scale Mechanical and electrical project management
  • Improvements in machine efficiencies and outputs
  • Root cause analysis of plant issues
  • Assists and / or lead the development work on new and old equipment and processes to ensure that optimum Production results are achieved with regard to quality, quantity and SHE.

Key Account Manager Vacancy - Field Based

As a Key Account Manager you will be responsible for the account management and development of key national accounts. You will be responsible for devising and implementing sales plans, prospecting new business and building and growing key relationships both internally and externally. You will require a proven track record of successful selling to National Garden Centre Groups, DIY'S and Multiples.

As a key member of the senior team reporting to the Retail Sales Director, you will be responsible for the total sales growth of the business. You will take the lead on managing key UK retail customers, putting together JBPs and promotional activity. The Key Account Manager is responsible for achieving channel objectives, KPIs and targets at assigned key customers. Where directed, the KAM develops new customers in a manner that will achieve short and long-term; profitable growth at the account.

  • Participate in the Commercial Planning Process through development of annual Customer Plans that support Brand and Channel Plans.
  • Where directed, identify sales opportunities, networking and fact-finding and calling on and closing new accounts.
  • Manage execution of National Account agreements / contracts and perform visual audits of accounts, correct compliance issues, identify new sales opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver effective selling presentations that implement approved Customer Business Plans.
  • Communicate approved retail activities, promotional plans, merchandising and new item authorizations with the Retail Team to ensure relentless retail execution.
  • Leverage management tools to analyse data on a variety of critical business drivers ranging from coverage productivity and time allocation to retail conditions and program compliance.
  • Develop timely and accurate forecasts (volume and spend) for assigned accounts and revise throughout the year.
