House and Conservatory Plants - June
-
Citrus plants have become very popular recently – not surprisingly, as the fragrant flowers and coloured fruits look very attractive against the glossy green leaves. However, they’re not the easiest plants to care for. To pep them up a spell outdoors during the summer months will do the world of good – place your plant in a sheltered place and feed once a fortnight with J Arthur Bower’s Multi-Purpose Liquid Plant Food. Make sure you keep the compost moist, but not soggy.

Many other houseplants will also appreciate a spell out of doors or in the greenhouse. Leafy houseplants become very dusty and will benefit from warm summer rain. Feed them regularly with J Arthur Bower’s Multi-Purpose Liquid Plant Food.

There’s still time to take leaf cuttings of African Violet, Streptocarpus and Rex Begonias. Cut the leaves horizontally into 3cm lengths and push the bottom side gently into a 50/50 mixture of J Arthur Bower’s Seed & Cutting Compost and J Arthur Bower’s Perlite. For African Violets you can use a whole leaf with stalk instead – just push the stalk into the compost mixture.
